The Clinical Educator is responsible for utilizing professional skills and clinical experience to educate healthcare providers and their staff on HIV/AIDS in order to support HIV+ patients (and those at risk), with medical care and other services they need. The goal of the Clinical Educator is to increase early patient identification and HIV education, educate offices on the coordination and integration of HIV care services, and assist offices with strategies to reduce HIV-related disparities and health inequities.

+ Responsible for scheduling activities, training on pre-approved curriculum, and submit completed documentation to VMS in a timely manner
+ Conduct office in-service sessions ("programs") to educate physicians, nurses, and other healthcare support professionals on HIV/AIDS. This program will focus on knowledge and awareness of HIV, how to identify patients who may be at risk and should be tested, skills around how to have crucial conversations (specific to IV drug use, disparate populations), and activating patients into care
+ Communicate ISDH commitment to HIV education, and available resources through state AIDS Service Organizations, and Linkage to Care services
+ Build relationships with healthcare providers and office staff; foster an ongoing open dialogue
+ Advise on industry insights and innovative approaches to training curriculum
+ Ensure all activities are conducted in a manner that is compliant with all VMS, client, and industry mandated rules and regulations
+ Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education and/or Experience:

+ Licensed healthcare professional

Required License and/or credential(s):

+ LCSW, MSW, RN, NP, RPh, PharmD, etc.

Required Skills:

+ HCP and/or patient education experience with infectious diseases strongly preferred

+ Excellent communication skills; Able to work with clinicians that have varying degrees of experience with HIV/AIDS

+ Ability to connect with and build trust with healthcare professionals

+ Critical thinking to assess customer needs and apply solutions

+ Available to travel to sites within assigned territory

+ Competent and comfortable utilizing technology, including tablets, projectors, etc.

+ Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products

+ Eligible to participate in federal healthcare programs or in federal procurement or non-procurement programs
